Many Occupational Therapists are looking for modalities to differentiate their practice from their colleagues and of course to help their clients have better outcomes in a shorter period of time.
The Interactive Metronome® (IM) is an evidence-based assessment and treatment tool used by OTs and other professionals who work with pediatric and adult clients with neurological conditions that affect cognitive and motor functioning.
OTs know the significant role that motor planning and sequencing play in helping clients become more functionally independent in the activities of daily living (ADLs). IM focuses on improving rhythmicity and timing and provides an objective method for measuring deficits and for tracking improvement.
Clinical Studies have shown significant improvements in cognitive and physical skills including:
- Bilateral Coordination
- Fine and Gross Motor Skills
Today, there are more than 20,000 certified IM providers in over 5,000 clinics, hospitals and universities worldwide. In addition to a wealth of published research, IM has received an abundance of media attention including the CBS Early Show, CNN News, US News and World Report, as well as various segments that have aired on hundreds of TV affiliates, radio stations and national publications.
Interactive Metronome® is approved by AOTA, ASHA, and BOC to offer continuing education credits for its curriculum. It is our goal to educate professionals and contribute to the most complete functional outcomes of their clients.
- Motor Planning & Sequencing
- Sequencing for ADLs & IADLs
- Self-Monitoring & Self-Control
- Sensory Integration
"When using the IM with my clients, I convey to them I am training their brain to achieve their personal gains. IM allows me to be creative in customizing my client's treatment protocol to assist them in reaching their functional ADL goals which, in turn, allows them to be more independent in the home as well as in the community."
Lisa Poe, OTR/L
A Focused Brain,
"IM has made a wonderful addition to our clinic as it is the perfect enhancement to traditional therapies. It has helped our clients to learn to focus and attend as well as increasing coordination which increased their goal attainment. It is brain based, and works on a millisecond level to help make connections and changes! I am finding more and more clients benefit from IM!"
